Northern Unicorns in their winter coats. ;)

And now I'm picturing the utter mess of their spring shedding.

Maybe li'l gnomey-things gather the fluff-bits and process 'em like wild-sheep wool--carding, washing, spinning; all that. The rough bits get matted into a good heavy felt, while the delicate undercoat makes a lovely angora-like wool.

Even if the li'l gnomey boys get cranky about the sparkly pink highlights.  ;)
