Couple of Singing People hand studies for the dinosaur project thingy.
I’m considering shrinking the hand feathers quite a bit to make their hands (and hand gestures) easier to read. Partly feels like cheating, after I’ve been drawing them with fuller, birdier hands for years, but also Troodon/Stenonychosaurus did have pretty dang small arms for a “raptor”, so maybe it could be argued they could have lost some of their hand feathering with the armspan? And maybe increase dexterity over pretty?
(On the other hand, if I do decide to go with this option, I’m gonna have to actually draw the hands more instead of just hiding the fingers behind hand feathers so… Eh, you win some you lose some.)
Still mulling that over, but I did need to draw the hands again to get a better grasp on how the hands are actually built. I find it interesting that their thumb has as many bones in it than human thumb (if you count the claw as containing the fingertip) and the first finger again equals to human finger, but the last finger has one extra bone in it. Did that extra bone joint it with hand dexterity? Who knows.
