Wurr: character design

I seem to like wasting my time in designing characters that I'll probably never draw again. But I still love them all. ^^

On the page 15 ([link]) Pyramos refers to something called "Old Ones", and the other day I started to wonder what they actually are. And this is what I came uo with:

The Old Ones, sometimes also known as "the Big Sixteen" is the Crater's court of law. Originally it's members were the leader pairs of the Crater's eight oldest and biggest packs, but due to corruption which usually takes place in royal families with too much power, it nowdays contains hounds who are selected specially for this task by their sense of justice, and who must go through series of tests to prove their qualification for the job.

These ones here are part of Crater's current "Old Ones". Most of them don't have names yet, but they do have stories behind them.

The top left one with weird looking nose isn't exactly a real member of the sixteen, he's just an adjutant (some kind of secretary?). The one next to him with those round horns (which should be horisontal all the way, but which I still draw too curved) is a veteran from the Big War. Although he is a wholehearted supporter of life of a soldier, he tends to refer to the Big War as the stupidest mistake the hounds have ever done.

The two on the middle left are leaders of the secomd biggest pack in the whole Crater. They enjoy great respect and they are parents of three of the current gateguards.
(Gateguards are houds who guard all the caves or holes in the Craters Bordermountains where someone could possibly get through. They make sure that dogs won't come in, and hounds won't get out, and to do so, they are usually veeeeeery big and strong.)
They probably have a great lovestory in their background story, since anyone as good looking as this mister could have got any of the more popular girls, but he picked up that tank. This hints to something big, but I don't know what that is. Yet. (Wanna make it up?)
Below them you can see their size comparison to each other and a silhouet of average size hound.

The guy on the middle right is the youngest of the Old Ones, and he passed his test extremely fast. He is hotheaded and tends to act before thinking, but he has strong sense of justice. And he's extremely bad lyer because he acts (and speaks) faster than thinks, relying mostly to his instincts and sense of justice. He lost his front paw in accident when a hill filled with Black Touch suddenly exploded (Black Touch is pretty unpredictable stuff) and he went to save people who were nearby when it happened.
Oh, and his fur is orange. With cream colored stripes along his sides. Yup.

Bottom left one is pretty nervous person. He has a social nature, even though he is easily startled, especially if something or someone approaces him from behind or from his blind side. He also tends to get neurotic if he sees any harm towards eyes, either his own or someone else's. He only eats headless meat in order to avoid touchinc the pray animal's eyes. His nervousness has much to do with a time which he spent imprisoned in a cave for a long period of time, during which his own horns grew dangerous to his eyes. At a time when he was rescued there was nothing that could be done to save his left eye anymore, but the rescuers broke his right horn in order to save his vision. He probably needs to cut that other horn too someday, before it grown through his skull. Oh, and his name's Miggik

And the last one, old Bone. There are rumors that tell that he would be the oldest hound in the whole Crater, but this has never been proved. At least he's oldest of the Old Ones. He has great wisdom and is seen as the leader of the sixteen although he himself denies all the rumors of leadership. Although all the hounds respect him greatly, there are lots of jokes of him, mostly of his age, but this isn't seen as bad thing, since he seems to like good jokes himself, even if they are about himself. When people talk about something happened "when Bone was pup", it can mean anything from distant past to prehistoric. "Even his fleas are ancient."
Old Bone is similar to Iralbe as being something that hounds call "whispering ones". The term refers to hounds whose gender is hard or impossible to determine, who seem to be both male and female or have no gender at all. Cases of being totally genderless or having both genders is extremely rare, but the case where gender is either difficult to recognise or is left undeveloped as something between male and female are surprisingly common inside the Crater.
The origin of the term "whispering one" is unknown and has fallen into oblivion long ago. (Though some hounds say it was Bone who made it up, since he speaks in whispers. But he can't be THAT old. Right?)
